Re: Vibration

I would suggest that you make sure that the drive shaft coupling flanges are perfectly mated, particularly the rear one coupling to the axle pinion. You also need to pay attention to the engine / gearbox mounts. When I purchased my car some clown had tightened the rear flanges so much out of positio...

Re: Overdrive electric circuits

My car 3.4 ltr chassis IB 4722 DN was passed off production 6th August 1965. It has full synchromesh gearbox and overdrive, with an inline fuse protecting the overdrive circuit. The original in line harness fuse for the overdrive is located on the left side of the steering column, under the dash, ju...

Re: Automatic choke

Jaguar&mg “………..It is timely as the choke is not coming on at all in this UK heat, yet the engine clearly needs some help to get going. Starting at the moment takes quite a while, with many stutters and half-attempts along the way, which seems ridiculous in the unusually hot weather!.....” Looki...

Re: uk battery

I am running two BOSCH S5-007 with 75Ah at 12 volt, one in the normal position and one in the boot. Both terminals are against the firewall, with the positive on the outside of the car. The car is positive earth with a dynamo. Before fitting the Bosch S5-007 I tried four other makes including Japane...

Re: Odd diff pinion nut

Rolly That is the standard pinion locking nut. The steel wings on the nut lock into the pinion threads, steel is used instead of nylon as the latter is apt to melt under influence of heat. Firstly, ensure absolutely that there is not the slightest movement in the pinion bearings. Before moving the n...

Re: Leaking fuel from rear carb

Jim Sorry for the delayed posting. Your image appears to show fuel leakage from the rear carburetter diaphragm, you have almost cornered the location by eliminating the float chamber yourself. Both carburetters will need rebuilding. If you leave the front carburetter diaphragm, without renewing, you...

Re: Heater scuttle valve

John
I believe an ignition distributor vacuum module might be adapted as a replacement, as I think you envisage.

If my memory is correct there were a number of industrial small air pressure chambers that would accept vacuum and do the job.

Re: Rear sway bar ?

Jim My 1965 3.4 ltr “S” Type has the fully synchromesh gearbox and is fitted with 185 x 15 tyres. I use the transmission in exactly the way it was intended, that is running in overdrive at cruising speed only to reduce engine RPM. If I meet other traffic and wish to overtake I drop out of overdrive ...

Re: Rear sway bar ?

Bingo Is there anything specifically you want to know about the E Type axle ratio? For instance, why I chose that 3.3 ratio choice or the actual axle rebuild etc? Would I follow the same route again, any disadvantages etc. I have had a lift and full workshop facilities for many years and although th...
