1966 3.4 Auto
1966 3.4 Auto
Hello from Scotland. I have recently purchased a 1966 S type 3.4 Auto to restore. It is needing a fair bit of welding as both sills have seen better days. I pic the car up next week so can have a better look over it then. It has not been on the road since 1984 so a long time to sit around.

It seems to be all the £3 to £5k cars look to need the same work from what I can see. I was interested to save it as it was a local car to me in Scotland.
It is good in bits but needs sills, inner sills and repairs to the edges of all wings. The boot lid is perfect as is the spare wheel well which is good. Interior is more dirty than anything else. Wood is a bit flaky but will redo.

NIce to see the tool tray was still with it with a good few of the tools there as well. The jack is missing though. I am hoping it is not the same as an E type one as they are rather pricey! The fuel pumps are off either side as well. I picked up a pair of NOS Mk2 ones a few years ago so they may come in handy now.

Re: 1966 3.4 Auto
looks complete from here
I believe Martin Robey has the sills, and SNG Barrat too. Check the SNG Barrat online catalog with illustrations.
The jack is specific to the S type and the 420 as far as I know, (also used in the Daimler Sovereign 420).
I am not aware of any other Jaguar using the same jack. It is a very easy and comfortable jack to use. I have two of them so I can raise the car front or rear evenly on both sides, who needs a hydraulic jack!
Also front and rear bumpers are now available in polished stainless steel.

Re: 1966 3.4 Auto
there are two S type jacks for sale in the US eBay right now:
one in Washington State:
https://www.ebay.com/itm/Jaguar-MK-X-MK ... ds&vxp=mtr
one in Ohio:
https://www.ebay.com/itm/1641-5800-Jagu ... ey&vxp=mtr
Looks like the MK-10 used the same jack as the S type and 420, at least that is what the sellers say. If you have a Jaguar breaker near you, you can try to locate it there, specifying S type, 420, or MK-X. Otherwise the one in Ohio looks the best and I am familiar with the seller, he has been around for years selling in eBay.

Re: 1966 3.4 Auto
I picked up the car on Monday and brought it back to my garage. It is certainly needing a lot of work. Hopefullly not too much to make it not salvageable. The front subframe mounting points are nnot fantastic from what I can see so will need much repair. I need to make some additional space to store all the parts I take off as well before I can strip much down as my unit is full of racing motorbike parts as i restore bikes for myself and others.
I remooved the bonnet as it is only fit for the bin? Is the Mk2 bonnet the same or different, looks very similar to the S trype one. I hoovered all the rusty debris out and removed the filter assembly for a better look at the engine. I will start removing all the ancillaries to prepare to drop the engine out as I have a 2 post lift in the garage which makes it much easier. I am going to weld braces the over the door appertures to stop any distortion as both sides are not the best. I will weld up a rotiserie for it as well once the shell is strippped so the weldathon can comence! I am also thinking about a colour change as well to one of the opalescent ccolours as they are my favourite. WIll get some pictures later.
I have filled out a V62 form and will also complete an application for a heritage certificate form too.
