Radius Arm Install
Re: Radius Arm Install
The first set I bought in 2013 were also from SNG but lasted less than 2 years as on the second MOT from rebuild they were cracked. This set has lasted five years but as you can see from the photos they are starting to crack again. I had thought of poly bushes before so will look into it. They might be twice the cost but if they last three times as long then they will be worth it.

Re: Radius Arm Install
All this has got me worried about my car, as soon as my back can cope with getting under the car I'll have a look.

Re: Radius Arm Install
Mine are not dangerous but I doubt they would pass an MOT (Ministry of Transport Test) so glad that I do not need one. I will get them changed in the next couple of weeks though.
I looked at the cost of the Poly bushes. Over £80 for one large radius bush and £50 for the small. £260 for all four where as Genuine Jaguar rubber ones are less then £100 for a set. Think I will go with the Jaguar ones, keep an eye on them and change them out every five years if needed. Easy to do as I have a spare set of radius arms in the garage.

Yeah. ~ we have a weak currency so there was always the temptation to buy the cheaper aftermarket part e.g. larger bush GBP 13.
But generally I bought at least the OE part. I generally don't like poly bushes because they disturb the designed compliance & can be noisy as hell on anti roll bars etc. Polyurethane can be difficult to lubricate. Potassium Borate greases shut it up but you wont find them at Halfords.

Re: Radius Arm Install
I managed to get under my car this morning to check the bushes and they are as good as new when I fitted them in 2015. One thing, I fitted the large bush with the slots on the side as opposed to the regular fore and aft configuration, this was done as most racing setups use this to reduce the movement of the subframe under braking and acceleration forces. I don't know if this has helped minimise wear but it seams to work so far.
I've just noticed you did the same Rob.

Maybe Rob's problem is that Brides are getting more plump by the day.

Re: Radius Arm Install
You could have a point there Glyn, Lockdown has not helped some of them.
I have to ask though when was the last time any of you had anyone in the back of your S Type?
