1965 Jaguar 3.8 S Type 4Spd w O/D - TX
1965 Jaguar 3.8 S, 4 speed, all synchro with OD. 77159DN, Original Opalescent Blue exterior and blue interior. Odometer reads about 11K miles, probably not correct. Needs paint and interior. 10,000 USD obo.
This 1965 Jag my dad and I bought in 2016 out of a barn up by Lake Texoma. The owner had died and left it to his son and it hadn't run since about 2001 the son said. His father was in the process of having it painted and semi restored when he died. It was non running, but able to turn over so we bought it as a project for my 80 year old dad to tinker on. We have put about $9K into the car... just about everything mechanical has been refreshed, from the addition of Coopercraft front brakes, completely rebuilt brake & clutch systems (new cylinders, brake servo, rear calipers, brake lines, etc). Fuel system and carbs overhauled. Pan dropped and cleaned, bearing inspected (good), and spin on oil filter added. New complete stainless steel exhaust, and every bushing, bearing, and also the shocks in the front and rear suspension have been replaced (all parts cleaned and painted also). Radiator was sent out for rebuild, as were the fuel tanks flushed and cleaned out. Replacement Solid state fuel pumps replace the old SU units. My dad has enjoyed the ride of getting this cool car mechanically sorted out and running but he we have no prior experience of painting bodywork and redoing the interior, so we have decided to try and sell it in lieu of paying for these services.
I have many, many photos of the car in the state we got it and throughout the rebuild process and can direct you to my google photo album it you desire to see them. My dad also kept all the receipts and records along the way.
Would be willing to assist buyer if car goes abroad.

Hi Bondracer 7, welcome to the forum. By then sound of it you have put a lot of work into the car, it would be a shame to give up on now. Please can you post a link to the photos to see the condition as it stands and what needs to be done, we might be able to advise.

Here's a link to the Google Photos album... https://goo.gl/photos/b5g6cim9Q1ySTp6E9
Basically it's a running driving car but needs the interior and exterior work done; paint, upholstery are the big ticket items, but also needs headliner, door and window rubber, carpets etc.

Btw, both my dad and I have been on the forum since we got the car in 2016, but I think it was the old forum that got corrupted or something.

After going through all of your photos I would say you have the bulk of the work done, it would be a real shame to stop now. For paint, looking at your location you could spray the car there, a compressor and spray gun are a lot cheaper than a shop job especially as the body looks very straight. Keep a look out on Ebay for seats, I bought a full set for mine for £50 as they take up a lot of room at breakers so they move them on quickly and cheaply. They can soon be recoloured with readily available kits. Headlining is just cloth, granted it takes a bit of skill to glue it to the roof but judging by the work you've done not beyond your capability.

+1^ You have pretty much broken the back of the job.
Looks to have a generally good solid body that is so important with these cars.
I note you have some underbody pictures in your collection that are not your car.
Your car has a Sync 4 gearbox with compact overdrive.
There is a pic of a Moss GB with long tail overdrive & an Automatic in that collection.
