Brilliant thank you, I will order that up, not too sure about locating the car consumables for the S type after a life time with bikes.
Cheers

A perfect solution. Dynamat now also make a similar material.

You're welcome.
I gave up bikes after I rode my '71 Norton Commando through the hedge outside my house and it fell on top of me and was stuck under it - time to call it a day! I sold my last remaining one a Vespa 180 last year.

On the change of subject, Bikes I still have my Yamaha FJ1200 and on a sunny day it is superb.

On the subject of Quarter light seals, well today I start a combination of jobs on my S Type. I have bought new plastic replacement door cards so decided to get stuck in to them changing the original vinyl over to the new waterproof cards. Taking the wooden door caps off to get them re lacquered as I noticed a little bit of water damage under the quarter light windows front and back.
Having taken the woodwork off I checked the quarter light window seals to see if there was any damage which might have let the water in and found they had deteriorated to a point where they were falling to pieces.
Photos below.
All around the rubber edge the seal had cracked and fallen to pieces.
These are only five years old bought on the 19th of March 2014 but only been on the car outside from November 2014. The rear quarter light seals and all the other window seals bought at the same time are fine. I bought them from Wilkinsons so immediately phoned them, followed that up with an email and copies of the photos below. They are looking into it with the intention of supplying me with new quarter light seals which I can fit whilst the door cards and wood are being done.
Sorry about the orientation of the photos don't know why they have come out like this.

Now my previous set of seals started cracking around the edges like that before we fitted the door frames. Not that bad but heading in that direction. Fortunately we noticed & immediately replaced them with COHBaines seals (via Barratts, via local vendor).

Blimey. I hadn't realised the NDV seals had to be changed every five years! The fifty year old ones I took off in 2014 were in better condition than your five-year-old ones, Rob. Wish I'd left them on the car, now.

I had not realised that they had deteriorated so much even after reading the start of this topic. It was only when I started to do another job which was water seeping related that I checked the seals and found them in this bad condition. Wilkinsons have indicated over the phone that it is a bad batch and will replace them for new but I have sent the photos to them and I am just waiting for a confirmed reply.
You are right though Orlando the 50 year old original seals I removed, although a bit hard, were in better shape than these are now.

Disappointed to see the damaged rubbers after such a short period of time. I was going to change all mine but having seen your pictures Rob I will leave them alone as I only have one on the N/S/R that is slightly cracked to be replaced the rest are good. Looks like the same problem with classic bike pattern parts they tend to have problems either with fit or quality and unfortunately most companies buy from the same supplier.
