Re: Head bolts
Nice one Jerry. I find it is always the small things that catch you out and how many times is it something you have not even been working on? I once changed the HT leads then the car would not start. So you checked and double checked everything, even put the old HT leads back on only to find there w...

Re: Head bolts
The original bracket is as yours with just a brace between the two to keep it as one piece.
The painted air filter housing makes the engine bay brighter and more interesting rather than the Hammarite grey which tended to blend in with the top of the engine.

Re: Power Steering mystery
You do not say where you are as I have a spare reservoir. I am in the UK. The actual linkages for the steering are the same except for the steering arms which on the Adwest were beefed up with a thicker profile. This was to protect the arms from bending if you parked against a kerb and then turned t...

Re: 3.4S (manual) Starter Motor
There is a difference in the length of the starter motors of an Auto and Manual as I was sent the wrong one first time around and when I was trying to start the car with the Manual starter motor in the teeth would not engage in the fly wheel teeth. I eventually figured it out after taking the damned...

Re: 3.4S (manual) Starter Motor
Hi Steve we have talked about this in detail on this post. http://jagstyperegister.com/forum_new/viewtopic.php?p=6880&hilit=Starter+high+torque#p6880 Basically the high torque starter motor is the way to go. I did mine many years a go and have not had a problem with it. A lot lighter then the or...

Re: Power Steering mystery
It depends on the year. From around September 1967 the S Type was fitted with the Adwest Variomatic power steering box. Prior to this they were fitted with the Burman Type 2. The PAS pump, reservoir and the way it was powered off the back of the alternator did not change. The Adwest PAS box is large...

Re: Drop arm torque
Did not use a torque setting when I did mine just tightened it up until I felt comfortable and then I think on mine there was a tab washer which I bent over the nut which stops it ever coming loose.

Re: Head bolts
Sorry Jerry never had to do this on my engine as I had the machine shop set the cams and shims for me. You might be better taking this question to this Jaguar forum as there are more members who have Mk2s and the same engine than just the few of us here on the S Type forum. https://www.jaguarforums....

Re: Door Chrome trim
All the clips on the doors are pop rivetted in. This is the body moulding kit that SNG Barrett supply. https://www.sngbarratt.com/English/#/UK/parts/91fda2aa-5ceb-4867-9c49-0e1bf2102a0e?fromCategory=BODY%20FITTINGS(585) It is made up of all the clips you need and the photo is not very clear but if y...

Re: Private Messages function
Could be two reasons for this. Either your message box is full and therefor it cannot store the message correctly to send it or the recipients inbox is full and they can't receive anymore messages. Solution to the first is to delete messages in your own message box to free up space and to solve the ...
