Incidentally, just in case someone stumbles across this thread looking for items 3 and 4 on the Plate 69 PAS Reservoir Diagram from the Parts Manual, which are shown in the parts manual as:
7753 Gasket, on Cover Bolt (HE.1324)
7751 Gasket, under Cover (HE.1306)
Whilst they are not available from Jaguar sources, they can actually be bought as Rolls Royce/Bentley parts (with Rolls/Bentley prices!) from Introcar as parts CD626 and CD628.

Jaguar glued the trim to the rubber originally to stop it blowing off at speed. Same goes for the front windscreen. Sadly the the recommended Bostik product has gone the way of the Dodo. Loctite 480 does a fine job with lots of tape to hold things in place while the Loctite cures fully. at least 24 hours if not longer. The chrome trim must be carefully shaped by hand.

Thats a good idea Glyn- gluing the window trim on. Mine was loose to the point of being liable to blow off in the wind so I pulled it all and stashed it.
Anyway, once I got my reservoir off and apart I saw that one of the lower o-rings in question had a slice out of it. Apparently I caused this installing it while trying to fix it last time and that lead to the leak I was currently after.
Last year I went to a British car specific swap meet and found a fellow at a booth who had 5 bins (plastic storage tubs) full of Jaguar manuals and various parts mostly for my xj40's and made a deal on the whole load. In this trove was a shoebox sized container full of bagged o-rings which I had forgot about when starting this thread. I spent a little time comparing and found that I had correct size rings already in my possession (justification for what I insist is not hoarding). I installed these and that leak seems to be re-fixed again. The bags for the lower rings (#8 &10 in Cass' pic) are labeled "114" and "115" if that helps anyone. Personally I am not sure what listing these numbers are from and couldn't say where to get more. I do have some extras if anyone needs them, I will send them along, just ask. My experience of Loctite products is they do as they say they will. Even glued my chrome trim to the rear window rubber with Loctite 480. It glues into a channel in the rubber glass side but caps over rubber body side. An evil Job. on an S Type.

Sorry for the delay, I've been trying to reply throughout the day on my phone but have not been successful. User error I suppose. Anyway, yes, in Cass pic, numbers 8 &10. #6's are the ones which are available. On mine there is a very definite groove just between the thread and the wrench head. There was an oring in there originally and although it isn't under pressure it's still a leak point. I will consider locktite, but am also considering Teflon tape. I think I will give my "O-ring Store" another try since they did me right twice now. Thanks for your input!

The underside of my reservoir has two push fit hoses which are not under pressure as one feeds the pump and the other is the return from the steering box. Both are as stated push fit with Jubilee clips (Number 12 ) to hold them in place as in the diagrahm below.

Or are you talking about numbers 8 and 10 in the diagrahm which seal the push fit sections to the bottom of the reservoir. If you are talking about 8 and 10 then I see no reason the Loctite 770 should not work. As long as it seals and does not leak anything is good in my book. I have also used Loctite 5980 instant gasket which is a rubber oil resistant gasket in a tube. Superb stuff for going the extra mile rather than having leaks with paper gaskets.

Sorry I'm being lazy. Which O Ring? Have not had a problem personally.

I have been dialing out the more aggressive leaks and I am down to the PAS system. It seems to be soaking the underside of the car all on its own. I have the usual leak-like-a-sieve later Burman box, and I also have leaky o-rings on the nipples on the bottom of the reservoir. I have tried to replace these before using 'as close as possible' orings from my local hardware store, but one is still not sealing up. I have the part numbers from Jaguar central, and Barratts does stock one of the 3 (the 2 against the housing) but list one other as being locktite 770. I am not sure how this could work, but am not too interested. Coming to the point, does anyone know of a supplier for the correct o-rings? or conversely, has anyone tried locktite in place of the lower o-rings? The numbers are 2 of 7545, one each of 9597 and 9345. Thanks all.
