Name That Part - 1965 Jaguar 3.8 S-Type

Post by DevilDog »

OK....found these in a box that we have not opened in four years. No clue. Painted the first part, but no idea where it goes.

Joe,

Number 1 is C23210 Front vacuum pipe.
Part 57 plate 88 it is the metal hose that goes between the Brake vacuum reservoir and the heater vacuum reservoir just in front of the bottom of the radiator.

Number 2 is C30074 Air intake hose.
Plate 8 part 18 is the paper hose that goes from the air filter box to the front of the radiator for cool air.

Not entirely sure on number 3 will have to check tomorrow but I think it might be C26482 Mounting bracket for reservoir, which goes behind the PAS reservoir tank on the inner wing so the tank can sit upright and not at an angle against the inner wing. It is not shown in a diagram in the parts book but is listed on page 322 under 69-10

Number 4 is C19425 Reservac tank
Plate 88 part 53 is the vacuum tank for the heater and scuttle switch. Goes under the front left wing mounted on the front cross member.

The parts marked LF Top look like door hinge shims, rotate 90 deg to the right for the orientation. The rest as Rob says.

As always, thanks guys. I may need to find the vacuum tank since mine has small holes in it. Going to try and fix it with epoxy. Unless Rob has a good one. Hey Rob...looks like I do not need the Air Filter listed on my other thread. Just need the servo clamp, support block, banjo, and banjo bolt.
Thanks again....

Just looked at this part in the manual: Number 2 is C30074 Air intake hose.
Plate 8 part 18 is the paper hose that goes from the air filter box to the front of the radiator for cool air. Rob, do you have part 19, the clamp that secures this hose to the front of the radiator?

I do believe I do. I used one on my car not so long ago but think I have a second in a box. It does not connect to the radiator but there is a bracket which is the bit I think I have which bolts to the front of the engine above the Generator. There is a loop clamp that then goes around the paper hose and clamps it to the bracket. Not sure if I have the loop but will look for the bracket tomorrow as well.

Rob,
That's great. If you have two rubber locating pads that attach to the gas tanks to buffer the tanks. Part 26 on the fuel system assembly. Once you get everything together, please check shipping to 65672. If you have a good vacuum tank add that too. Please give me a list of what you have so I know to look elsewhere for the other parts.

To summarize:
Vacuum Tank (I have the bracket and the screw in valve)
Bracket that holds the paper hose
Banjo
Banjo bolt
Servo clamp
Support block for servo clamp
Shim for servo clamp

You require three locating pads per tank so do you need two sets as I just so happen to have two sets of three (total 6 pads) or do you just require two locating pads and you already have four?.
They are added to the list anyway.

OK Joe this is what I have for you.
Servo clamp complete with bolts and rubber grommets but it does not have what you are calling the shim.
Two rubber petrol tank pads.
Banjo and banjo bolt from the servon
Complete air hose bracket and clamp.
I do not have a vacuum tank and if I did I would possibly hold on to it baring in mind I might have a hole in mine when I start investigating.
You can buy new ones from David Manners https://www.jagspares.co.uk/product/bra ... /c24910**1*** which is where I might go as they are used on the Mk2 but the other vacuum tank you have for the heater is not made anymore. SNG are £15 more expensive. https://www.sngbarratt.com/uk/#!/Englis ... e5198f518f

I hope the banjo is the one you're looking for. I have attached a photo of it in situ on my old servo to double check.
