Tie Rod End

Hi,

Does anybody know if the Tie Rod Pin and Bush Assembly (133101) from SNG fits in the Tie Rod End RH (C29094*)?
I'm asking this because mine Tied Rod End RH (same as C29094*) needs new rubber (due to disintegrate).
At first side it seems impossible to replace the Tie Rod Pin.
Attached some pictures.

Thanks,

Harrie

Hi Harrie. Yes, they should fit, though you will need a press to remove the old parts and press in the new ones.

Many forum members have switched to the uprated part offered by SNGB (133101U), because the standard part does not seem to last very long. See this topic: http://jagstyperegister.com/forum_new/v ... 101u#p1533.

Hi Orlando,

I ordered the Tie Rod Pin and press the old one out.
But it surprise me that it doesn't fit. It's much to small.
Are there more versions with different sizes available?
Attach some pictures.

Harrie

The parts diagram I have for the Tie rod ends is not very good but it does appear there are different parts for power steering and non power steering set ups. SNG seem to only sell one uprated tie rod end which is this one https://www.sngbarratt.com/uk/#!/Englis ... c8db1911e0 and it seems to be the same as the one you have. Where did you buy yours from? If it was SNG then they might have sent you the wrong one. Check the part number on the packaging it should be Product Code: 133101U

Well, that's a bit of a puzzle. There are different end assemblies listed for PAS and non-PAS (see pp234/235 of the Parts Catalogue), but they all take the same pin and bush assembly, listed as C17099, for which part 133101 is supplied these days.

However, this topic seems like the same issue as yours: https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/mki- ... nt-195401/.

So, you could see if SNGB will sleeve your existing tie rod ends and then fit the new pins.

Or, you could buy new end assemblies, which will take part 133101. It looks like you will have to get these from Martin Robey or elsewhere - SNGB only have C29094. Martin Robey links:
https://www.martinrobey.com/part/22165
https://www.martinrobey.com/part/22162

Sorry if I wrongly advised you. I did think 133101 fitted all our cars.

BTW, please could you add a little info about your car to your signature - ie year, PAS/non-PAS, location, etc?

That is confusing Orlando. So SNG are saying this is the correct part but they only sell half of it and if you want the other half, the sleeve, it costs more to buy and they will fit it as it requires to be welded in at an extra cost for you.
Then there is the issue highlighted by the guy on the other forum who states it is not even the correct length as the old one.
I notice there are no pictures on the David Manners web site but I would think they would send you some if you asked. Again I assume the David Manners item is not the uprated version as it does not state this?

It would be interesting to know what year Harrie's car is.

To my knowledge that drag link with the shorter pin/bush is a pre beefed up for power steering item from a Mk2.

Some Mk2 items found their way onto early S Types.

Well, to be fair to SNGB, as I always like to be :) , I think they were just trying to make it work for the OP. After all, they are looking at the same parts manuals as we are.

...yes, I have seen those tie-rod ends on earlier Jaguars - XKs, etc. The OP's car in the Jaguar Forums topic is a 1966 car, though. I suppose it's just possible it was (say) converted to PAS with early Mk2 components.

Yes Orlando. I'm only stating what I've seen on other's earlier cars pre S Type. I don't have parts manuals for earlier cars. Some cross cobbling is I guess possible. There have been occasions in the past 20 ~ 30 years when even tie rod end ball joints were difficult to get. The spares situation has improved greatly over the years for many wear parts.
