Rob.....wires are the best; however, they are started restoring my hubs and rings and I could not stop the process. Budget can only support either air conditioning or wires. Going with the air since I live in MO.

I collected my hubs spinners and splines from the Beaulieu Autojumble for less than £100. Bought new bearings and discs from SNG and was given a set of wire wheels from my mate who had just bought a new set of chromes for his car. Had them sandblasted, painted and tuned for £200 so for about £400 I converted to wires. I then sold the hub caps, steel wheels and embellishers on ebay and near enough made my money back. I still have the old hubs so might sell them in the future and break even on the wire wheel conversion. I did the work in converting but had to use a mates hydraulic press to change the splines on the back as they were really tight.

Rob, have you still got my old tyres on? They are a few years old now so keep your eye on them for cracks.

Yes thank you Nigel and no cracks showing. Rarely get above 30 mph and don't do any long journeys for them to warm up and over heat but I am keeping an eye on them.

Was just about to post the pics, Joe, but I agree.....with the cost of shipping the Barratt option looks a far better bet for you.

It's wires on the Mk II for me, but most definitely disc wheels on the S-Type.

Not trying to start an argument here but seriously Stan are you trying to tell me from the photos I added that my S type looked better with steel wheels on than now with the wire wheels? Wire wheels all day long for me I am afraid on both.

NigelW, I'm interested in the Dunlop wheels you showed a picture of on the first page. What size are the wheels and tires and is there room for any additional width on the rear tires?

Hi Trevor, the Dunlop wheels I have are 6x15. I have fitted standerd size 185x15 tyres to mine but I have used 205/70x15 tyres previously on the same size Wolfrace and Minilite wheels with out any issues. These were a bit hard on the arms as I don't have power steering and passed them on to Cass for his car who has the standerd size 5.5x15 wheels if I remember rightly. I got the wheels from Realm Engineering by the way.
