Thanks Orlando. I just love your Reg. "GUV" is such a classic to have in the UK.

I always leave the bonnet of mine up with the polished rocker covers, polished brass radiator and cream inner wings which I polish it gets more admiring looks than the outside of the car.

Well done Glyn your S type is a credit to you, it's been a long time but well worth the wait. I bet the first drive was fantastic after going through all the red tape, also a relief everything ran so well. It will be great to see the finished car.

Proper door sealing: Window frame to door sealing & door card protection crucial. Interior of doors liberally coated with Tectyl & longlife Polyurea Synthetic grease on all mechanisms.

Original car during stripping. Fortunately zero rust. Man they were liberal with contact adhesive.

Congratulations on your milestone, Glyn. That's great news and we look forward to new images of the period-style plates and decals. My rear plate is the original ACE plate (repainted), but the front one was just too bent and battered, so I had to mount the original letters on a new backplate.rear plate.jpg

I've done 7,000 miles in the 4 years since my restoration was completed. It has been fun.

Never won any awards, though. :( . Maybe that's because I spend half my time at shows with the bonnet up, cooling her down.

Luckily, there is always something to tinker with. :D
Originally I had an Early American plate on the S. That seemed kind of odd on a British car but it meant that the town tax man could only assess your car for $500 for personal property tax purposes. In 1980 or so I managed to snag this one.

Now that is a good plate!

In the USA, a vanity plate really is a vanity plate, not the UK version which is a jumble of letters and numbers with the wrong spacing, which might just vaguely look like 'CAZ' or 'PHIL' with your eyes half closed. :D

Totally agree. Personal plates are for people who have too much money and are trying to hide the real age of their car. Besides my plate is the original plate for the car TGK 592F so why change it.

Nice Alan, I'm just taking what they give me. Vanity plates don't really work with our system & cars with vanity plates get keyed here.
