Yes Nice work Alan. I had thought of doing mine this way but decided the carbs would get in the way and the carbs are a bugger to get on and off with the engine in situ so dropped it in through the top. I did my front and back subframes this way though lifting the car up with the engine hoist and then lowering the body down on to the rolling subframes.

That is a heck of an idea to have the whole car up and the wheels on those sub-frames as the front in particular is REALLY tippy, even on a dolly and then balanced on a jack to get it up in place. Next time.

9ve always taken the engine out and back in from underneath, just don't like the idea of 1/2 ton of engine and box swinging in the air, ok the carbs are a pita to fit but not impossible.

I've just had my carbs off & on again. Not that bad. In Erens' new workshop I think we would go in from underneath. Far better lifting & hoists now.

The chap in the drawing looks pretty anxious, doesn't he?

Here's a couple of pix of GUV's engine and gearbox removal, December 1983. That's me in the period blue parka and my dad in charge. Looks like we'd already removed the sump for some reason; diagnosis, probably.

I think your long family relationship/association with GUV must be very special. I become quite attached to cars.

I realized that I posted my dash photos on Glyn's thread. It has been moved to my page found here: http://www.jagstyperegister.com/forum_n ... &start=130.

I saw everyone's comments and they are appreciated. You may want to delete your comments so we do not mess up Glyn's thread.

Thanks for understanding......
