Nah Rob. Now I'm going to drive it & enjoy it. So it's all down hill from now. Cars were made to be driven. I will of course stay away from rain & look after it.

He rates it as the best S Type in the country.

He rated the car at 100 points Plus.

I'm smiling from ear to ear & delighted.

Now I will have it in writing to frame that I got there. This is no trailer queen & I can now drive it & enjoy it.
Congratulations! You very much deserve it!

Morning Glynn,

An odd question for you. I noticed in one of your pictures on Page 4 of the discussion (showing the quarter light rubber fitment jig) that there is a red moquette covered metal bracket or cover just to the upper left of the shot. I've just got a 1966 S Type which is largely original but has two of these mystery covers sitting in the glove box. I've looked everywhere ( I think) and can't find where they should be fitted! Thought they might be on the front seats but can't see anywhere that would take the screws that obviously secure them so the mystery remains. Any guidance gratefully accepted.

Kind regards,

Roger

There are 2 of them Roger. They go on the shelf & surround the steering column. See picture. Lower gap is correct. They meet at the top. Don't worry. They befuddle many. That was one of mine before being upholstered in Biscuit. My car started as Old English White with red interior. I changed it to BRG & Biscuit. My car was built in early 66 but pre registered 65 ~ long story. See CKD S Types in drop down menu at the top of the front page of the Register. Mine was No 4 off of the local line at CDA in '66 out of a total of 850 cars. So I call it a '65 whereas it's really a '66 build.

Thanks Glynn, that's one mystery solved.

Your car restoration looks incredible and is done to such a high standard- many congratulations. My 1966 in Sliver Grey with red interior remains in exceptional original condition with several sympathetic upgrades by the previous owners. I think the saving grace for the bodywork was that one owner (who bought the car when in the UK) took it back to the US with him on his return. Thus it missed the mid 1970s to mid 1980s period in the UK when a lot of our cars were sadly neglected and the weather did the rest.

I'm really enjoying the Register and it's people like yourself who help to make it such an enjoyable resource to use.

Thanks again and happy motoring.

Thank you for the kind words Roger. Shout at any time you need help. Everything was restored on my car even if you can't see it including full new wiring harnesses. A labour of love. Happy with my 100> points score. My car lived at 7000ft in a very dry climate. Also one owner ~ a medical Doctor. Totally rust free ~ inspected every cavity with a long boroscope. Now plastered with Tectyl.
Kind Regards,
Glyn.

With Covid hopefully behind us. Gift to my man that did most of the grunt work on my S Type. Most engravers went under but green shoots are appearing.

Full 7" leaper in 18 carat gold plate. Has taken pride of place in his trophy cabinet.
