Looking for a good fuel tank filter for my 1964 3.8 S in case anyone has a spare they are willing to part with. Thanks

Are you looking for the gauze filter that is part of the tank drain plug? If so, Moss lists these as part C990 but not cheap at $80 each! Once when I had mine out the gauze part seemed be corroded away. Never replaced it at these prices.

I'm with you, John. $80 is way too much. When I pulled mine out, I remembered that I repaired it many, many years ago with brass patches and screen. This time I accidently poked another hole in the brass screen while cleaning it, so I soldered another piece of screen over the hole. Ugly but serviceable.

I'm assuming there is a hole in the end that the pickup tube goes into. Where did you find that fine screening material? Looks a lot finer than standard window screen.

Yes, the hole is in the end for the pickup tube. I don't remember where I got it but I had a piece lying around that I used to use on the bottom of my pool sump pump to keep stuff from clogging the pump (never throw anything away). If you Google fine brass mesh you'll get several to choose from like this at ebay
