The brake pedal on my 67 s-type is too high
Is there a way to lower it to match the clutch pedal?

I have an auto so can't comment as to how to do it on the S Type but with my Lotus Seven I cut and welded the peddles until they suited the heights I wanted them and the correct spacings.

Did you check if there is air in the system?

I just checked my 1965 S Type and the clutch and brake pedals are at almost the exact same height. There must be some other cause for yours to be off.

Has the master cylinder been replaced? Could be the wrong one with a longer actuating rod. Can be sorted out with a spacer between the cylinder and the pedal box, this will raise the cylinder thus lowering the pedal.

At about the same time as your original post, I came across the Pedal Lowering Kit SBS9149 at SNGB completely by chance and I can confirm that it does indeed lower the pedal to an acceptable height. I'd been driving around for 10 years wondering why it was so high! I was able to fit it without disturbing the hydraulics.
