3D printing velocity stacks ..

Post by Bingo »

As an experiment I am printing velocity stacks for my HD6 SUs.
Experimenting with dimples to affect the flow..

Flange width : 2.75”
Carb side 1 1/2”
Horn length 5 1/4”

I have metal mesh filters.

No idea as to how to honestly measure the difference in the stock plum/cleaner setup.

Pictures are of an older version..flange upside down, and smooth horn.

Pictures of the correct flange and dimples on the inside of the horn coming.

Solidworks shows the effect of the bend is significant. The bend is is less of a degree than the stock plenum. I will look at what a 1 1/2” straight stack flow looks like. Their are advantages to a taller stack .. a positive effect on top end performance.

1st model is horn with smooth sides. More turbulence and has areas of high flows

2nd model is horn with dimples. Uniform flow over a greater area in the carb inlet.
