Firstly, it's your car so you can do as you wish. Personally, I prefer a degree of originality so would say either return it to it's original build colour or a period appropriate colour. That being said let us not forget that Jaguar would (for a fee) paint a car in any colour the customer wished from any manufacturer's palette so who could say it was wrong provided somebody did a colour similar to Coral at the time?

My car is Silver Grey and that definitely wouldn't have been my first choice but I wouldn't dream of changing it from original. But that's me.

You'll get other opinions I'm sure.

I agree your car so you choose the colour. The only thing I would say on the subject though is if you are going to change the colour you have to do a full job on it and not half a job. The car needs to be stripped completely so all the door jams, under the window rubbers, engine bay, wheel arches, the underside of the bonnet, inside the boot, under the dash even the underside of the car. So many times at shows you see a great car with a wonderful paint job on the outside and then you open the bonnet and the engine bay is painted black. Same under the wheel arches and then open the boot or lift a carpet and it is the original colour.
All or nothing in my opinion but then it is not my car.
My car was Warwick Grey, more like battle ship grey or under coat so when I did my rebuild I painted it Old English White. I know I had the car already stripped as I had first sent it to the blasters but everything was painted OEW even the insides of the doors. Not a speck of Warwick Grey on the car now.
