Re: 'S'-type for sale at US$74,990
OK I am going to start with WTF is that air filter? Then quickly move on to the Alloy radiator and state this might be show quality but certainly not Concours.
Not worth $75,000 but the name Ralph Lauren might add a bit to the price.
In the write up and this makes me laugh every time I see someone waste their money on getting a garage to do this for them it states VALVE and SEATS UPDATED to run on UNLEADED FUEL. The XK Engine was already ready for Unleaded from the factory for Gods sake due to the head being Aluminium and the valve seats hardened steel inserts.

300k on restoration!! Looking to at the presentation of the engine bay and the boot carpets I'd be asking for a refund.

I agree Nigel although I think a lot of what is said in the advert is bull shit just to try and get the asking price. This could be up for sale for a very long time with that price tag. $75k is the asking price but that is not the price it will sell at. More like $30k with the name attached and $20K if the provenance was not sound.

Re: 'S'-type for sale at US$74,990
I just viewed this again and it is not a vehicles owned by Ralph Lauren but a car owed and restored by the guy that used to manage the car collection owned by Ralph Lauren. That is like saying my car is linked to King Charles because I met him once back in 1993.
I also had a laugh at the photo of the front grill and all the badges that have been added.
Shame the badges on the ends completely cover the fog lights.

I know that car that one of Lauren's grease monkeys did for himself. I've seen it. It is far from perfect. I'd rather have mine thanks. April fools day is a long way off.
This is a vastly better car. All it could do with are new door cards. They used the originals which was naughty considering the general high standard. And no the colour is not wrong. It came out of Browns Lane that colour at the owner's request that Jaguar imaginatively called "New Red". He did not like Carmen Red.

Looks like this $74,000 S Type listing expired with no sale as far as I can tell. Probably see it relisted sometime with a more realistic price.David Reilly wrote: ↑Thu Dec 29, 2022 3:44 pm See it at

It's been on the market for quite some time.
I saw it listed at least a year ago.
I agree with Nigel's comment. The paint job is not up to the New Red standard either.
