Air cleaner intake hose bracket and clip

Post by David Reilly »

I have decided to convert P1B79909DN back to the original Air Cleaner and Intake Hose configuration. I have an original hose, but unfortunately, back in Arizona, when I had my worn and misfunctioning power steering box replaced with a very good one from a 30,000 mile car being parted out, Part C.23432 Bracket for air intake hose and Part C.23532 Clip securing hose to bracket were “lost”.
Does any member have them that they can ‘spare’? Either from a parts car or when you replaced the air intake assembly with a modified system without the hose? I would be most grateful.
Keep on ‘S’-type-ing
David

David,

I'm pretty sure I still have the pattern for these two pieces as I had to make mine using a friend's original one for the pattern. Simple to make from mild steel of the correct gauge. Let me know and I'll send it to you.

Hello to everyone.

This is David from Spain, I am the owner of a s type 3.4. In Madrid.

During the lasts weeks I have been reading diferents posts. I am looking for the hose bracket and clip for the air cleaner intake hose. I think could be a good way to give cool air to the engine.

Are there any spare? Or as I have just read a way to reproduce it?

Thanks in advance

Hi David,

I still have the full size pattern, so if you give me your address, I'll send a copy. You will be able to make the parts, no problem. I also have for sale the rubber seal that connects the air hose to the end of the air cleaner if yours is missing. I think my ad is still listed in the forum under parts for sale.

David,
I converted my ‘S’-type back to the original configuration and the differences I have noticed that the cooler air makes are a smoother more consistent idle when engine is warm/hot as well as quicker starting

I have both parts, bracket and clip, aftermarket, still in the SNG Barratt packaging. If you are interested, contact me at jagstype@gmail.com
Cheers,
David

For originality I can see this hose and bracket but with all that hot air rushing around in the engine bay I fail to see how this set up really impacts the temperature of the intake air. Now, if it led out to the fender well that would make a difference.

I agree a proper cold air intake from the fender well or wherever would make eminent sense & has been done by Jaguar, Aston etc. before. However that darn piece of convoluted pipe still has quite an influence on tuning & engine behavior. I have 2 of Alan Wiedie's rubber seals and I'm just waiting for a friend who is arriving shortly, I hope, from the UK with my piece of pipe. Orlando tracked down a supplier. The temperature above the exhaust manifolds is extreme.

Glyn & Orlando,

A fellow who purchased one of my seals said he found a pipe that he thinks works perfectly. Here is the link to the site: https://www.heatso.com/espar-eberspache ... m-1-meter/

It looks pretty much like the original to me.
