Showing my true inexperience. What are these????? In a bag labeled lower motor mount and cannot find out any info. Part number would be great. I think they are C23559, but where do they get installed. Have no idea where they go.

those look like the bottom rubber bushes and washers of the front Engine Stabilizers. You are missing the steel "Banjo" fittings shown in the illustration I posted below.

they mount to the lower front of the engine and to the front of the front suspension crossmember at an angle dictated by the top and bottom brackets.

they are somewhat similar to a Sway Bar LINK. If they are Not part of the engine stabilizers, then they are the Sway Bar Links.

so you should see a bracket welded to the front suspension member on each corner, and another bracket above it bolted to the engine.

OK someone has stolen my stabilisers!
My S Type is a Sept 1967 build and it does not have these stabilisers. I have engine mounts at the front which bolt on to the chassis leg. They do not in anyway attach to the cross member and I have a rear engine stabilizer which attaches from the back of the engine/bell housing to a bracket on the bulkhead. I do have an anti roll bar or sway bar but no stabalizers.
WHERE ARE MY STABILISERS?
I have just looked at the parts manual and I can not find these stabilizers at the front of the engine listed.

C23559 are the rubber bushings or "buffers" for the engine stabilizers.

from the Service Manual: The upper banjo fitting bolts to the block. They prevent the engine from "torquing" sideways? (seems like the motor mounts would take care of that).

Nope still do not have them.
Here is a photo of my front subframe which does not have the mounts on. Tomorrow I will get the car up on the ramp and take a photo of the underside of my engine bay in the same orientation as that drawing to show what it looks like. Might be only on the early models but from the look of the drawing my PAS box would get in the way of the right hand side stabilizer mounting. You can see the indentation on the subframe where the PAS box sits.

Was C23559 superseded by C10940? My Parts Manual lists C10940 as the rubber bush. Also, what Service Manual do you have? My Service Manual does not have that picture in it.

I thought I read that the models with PAS do not have the stabilizers.

my car has PAS and the stabilizers. There are no conflicts other than the power steering hose you can see in the picture smack in front of the lower nut of the stabilizer. When I replaced the rubber buffers I had to use three hands. I can't remember if the buffer's part number was superceeded.

I have the original paper Service Manual that came with the car when it was first sold. Whether it is an early version I don't know. I thought all S type are the same throughout their production other than any supercessions or deletes..

Cass is it possible someone eliminated them? See if you have any trace of a welded bracket at the crossmember. It would be obvious. The block will have two threaded "ears" in the casting where the banjo bolts to.

the only other thing I can think of is that my car is a 9:1 compression 3.8 liter and it required the stabilizers? No clue and the manual does not say. The illustration I posted is from the Engine Removal Section of the manual, a very detailed step by step How To.
