Front bumper

Post by Euler »

I find myself in need of a new front bumper and at least one riser for my 65 S-type. It was damaged in the shop that I had working on it and it has a wrinkle in it that the Bumper Boyz of LA say is not fixable.

I hear the S-type is unique and I cannot use the Mark II - is this correct?
Also, there are stainless option available, but my guess is that the stainless steel may be more fragile and not supply much protection - is this correct?

Finding an S-type front bumper in good shape may be difficult (I am west coast US) - any suggestions?

The front bumpers are the same as the later Mk2 Jaguars, if you can't find an S Type item the slimline ones were fitted to the 240 and 340. I don't know if these cars were sold in the US at the time 1967/8

The 340 that was sold in the US did not have the slim bumpers. But Euler appears to be in California and might locate a used bumper at Jaguar Heaven in Stockton California. Give them a call.

Several years ago I supplied some spare bumpers I had for the S type to a company called Group Harrington based in Vietnam. From the bumpers I supplied they have now made stainless steel bumpers which they sell. I have a set on my car. You cannot tell the difference between the chrome and stainless steel bumpers unless you know what you are looking for. As for safety Stainless steel bumpers are going to be stronger than mild steel chromed bumpers but my advice is not to drive into anything.
