Water pump installation

Hi folks,

I have to admit to a silly mistake!

I've removed several parts from my engine ( still in the car) as part of a "smartening up" exercise, painting and checking various components.

I removed the radiator, Dynamo, air intake hose support bracket and the water pump, and many others. After painting said parts, checking the state of the water pump impeller etc, I started to put things back.

I foolishly didn't take enough photos, and now can't figure out the relationship between the dynamo "strap" and the air hose support bracket, and where the long (8.3 cm) water pump bolts should go.

I'd be very grateful for some quidance!

Can't help with the position of the long bolts but it should be easy to fit them through a process of elimination.
Here are a couple of photos which might help with the air hose and generator brackets.

Treetrimmer: I admire your strength as you must have arms as strong as a gorilla getting that dynamo out of the engine bay. While doing an engine overhaul my shop removed mine recently and gave it to me for a cleanup and painting. C48 dynamo and attached Holborn Eaton power steering pump combined weigh 39 pounds! :o

Thanks chaps for the responses. The photos have done the trick.

I noted the "cranked" Dynamo strap; mine is a straight version. Yes, the Dynamo is heavy, but at this stage the Power Steering pump has not yet been refitted ( it was sent off for an overhaul). Onwards and upwards, at least it's now a bit cooler In overalls.

Straight version from a friend's car. Same as mine. He has tossed the radiator shroud & inlet pipe bracket.

Don't forget the spacer where the strap connects to the water pump or things will be out of alignment.

Mine is a later 1968 car which could account for the "cranked" strap.

If you think the Generator is heavy wait until you have to work on the starter motor. I have changed my generator to a lighter Dynalite alternator still with the PAS pump on the back and to a high power starter motor both of which are half the weight of the originals.
