I was talking to the business owner re-spraying my S Type earlier in the week about these door handle gaskets along with the other seals, rubbers and the laminated windscreen and he said don't bother with the door gaskets. He had tried to fit them over the last few years to an S type and number of Mk 2's and they either do not fit very well or protrude over the door handles his words a waste of time. He puts some sort of heavy black mastic under the handles and cleans the surplus off. He had a MK 2 ready for collection which I looked over and the door handles looked fine fitted ok with just a fine black line of mastic at the edges. I will follow suit and have the mastic under the door handles. I do not know who supplied the other door gaskets he tried before unfortunately.

I do not have door handle gaskets on my car. Did not even know you could get them!

Door handle gaskets were not standard to my knowledge & there is no reference to them in any parts manual I have.

Hi everyone,

Even though supply is not really an issue, quality certainly is! This I have learnt at my own expense. I dare say some suppliers stock rubbish. Certainly they know what they are selling, but they just don't care. I have been sold a complete outer chrome kit (certainly not complete because there were items missing) whose quality is to say the least rubbish! Complain? What for? Sending emails, not getting a reply, calling, waiting, leaving a few days pass before re trying so as not to be invasive or whatever. Being promised a replacement part only to get the same rod which apparently they tried to fix with the result that the chrome was badly damaged.

Then, through a misunderstanding, I thought I had found the rear chrome window sills that hold the weather strip only to get delivered the earlier type. Never the less I am very much impressed by the quality of chrome strips supplied by David Manners. Really nice even though they are useless for me. I also got a set of spears which as someone said they got two small bolts and nuts, but remove the nuts and they just fit in nicely. Extremely satisfied about these, and I don't think they are over priced at Stg40 or two pieces.

Restoring such a car should be relaxing not stressful. I just can't conceive how these suppliers don't understand that going through all this process the only satisfaction is knowing that you tried to do your best. You can't get a good result if you overlook all detail and just be satisfied with a large quantity of low quality new parts.

Name and shame them Albion then we and other S Type owners will not buy from them if their quality is poor.
Dare say they are all buying from the same manufacturer but if their customer service is poor we would not want to deal with them.

Hi, I think that is not the scope of this forum. Besides I don't want to harm anyone's business. Certainly bad customer service takes care of that. I would rather commend publicly like I did with David Manners, about the good quality of their chrome products. The finish is outstanding. I try to post some pictures to compare. I don't think that they share the source of their parts, since quality defers a lot. Undoubtedly the spears fit neatly.

P.s. I tried to send you a private message with regards to the chrome behind bumper, but I don't think it worked.

Has anyone bought 3.8 S emblem for the boot recently? The ones available differ in measurements between pins by a couple of mm, so they would not fit.
