The original piece did and is longer than this repo one, I think I'll try to repair the old one and get it rechromed.

They are not available from Sng at the moment.

I bought it from M Robey's a while back and when I challenged them about the length they said it was the only length supplied and no one had complained before. Has anyone had a similar problem with this piece?

Mine also reaches the end as can be seen in my Frosty photo but as I recall it is held in place with a "T" piece and nut under the bonnet and the end slides under the Leaper so you can extend it further out unless the one you have is so short the end is touching the leaper and still goes nowhere near the end of the bonnet.

I've moved it out as far as I can, it's at least 1/2inch too short.. I've bought two s/h bonnets in the past to make louvres in (keeping the original unmolested) but they didn't fit with the bonnet catch missing the the latch by some margin on the slam panel indicating the original bonnet is longer. I don't know if this is another '64 car anomaly.

O'dear!

Is yours a 64?

LOL.

I was told once not to fit door skins to my doors as they would never fit in the apertures again. Apparently they did not have CNC machines to cut the panels in the 60's and the doors from one car would never fit another. Do you think this is the same with the bonnets or is yours just very long.

Yes an early 64. I had a devil of a time fitting a rear door I bought NOS. I think they made these cars up as they went along.
