Decided to order the 14 disc collection of "The Sweeney" plus "Life at the Top" & "11 Harrowhouse" for my S Type collection. Look forward to watching these oldies & S Types in period surroundings.
Just noticed on the last photo of SUU 486F it only has one fog light on the passenger's side and a grill on the drivers side,(UK sides).
Anyone like to have a guess as to why it would only have one fog light fitted and a grill?
Don't expect an answer from me but maybe John the Jagman can assist here.

It is my understanding that all Met police S Types had one fog lamp & one grill as did some 340's. Behind the grill was a low intensity gong instead of siren for late night use in the city.
There's an article in the January 2019 edition of Classic & Sportscar on Ernie Jupp's ex-police cars, including the S-type I sat in at the NEC, photos of which appear above.

Interestingly, this car appears in numerous films and TV dramas of the period, sometimes with registration plate BHE884G and sometimes in white. See post from dsl on IMCDB here: https://www.imcdb.org/vehicle_514767-Jaguar-S-Type.html. I'd guess it was probably owned by a company that hired out police cars to production companies, eg Joe Wadham's Nine Nine Cars.

'S'-type police cars have appeared in many many films. You can read about (and see some scenes from those I have reviewed in the Enclosures to Newsletters Vol 7, Nos 3 & 4 in the Newsletter Archives.
