If anybody is interested, I have been watching an old TV series called the Sweeny with John Thaw as Regan and The S type is continually used in car chases.
I think you'll find that John Thaw drove that Mk2 in "Morse". In the "Sweeney" he never usually drove himself on police duty but was usually driven in a Mk1 Ford Granada.

I think you are quite right. My tired old brain tends to run the one series into the other. Haven't watched it forever.
Just checked all those Sweeney cars registration numbers against the DVLA database and none of them has survived which is very sad. DWD606C had a very strange paint work as it was black with a silver gray roof, bonnet, boot and upper body line. Never seen an S Type with that pain combination before.
Also don't know if this is a because the wipers were turned on and the photo caught the blades at the far end of there reach but otherwise this is a right hand drive car but has left hand drive wiper blades on it???

That is sad. So many S Types trashed in TV Series or for the IRS to go into hotrods or Cobra Replicas etc. But hey with dwindling numbers it makes our cars more valuable ~ I'd rather see them saved though.
