@cass3958. I would refute your stat that only 6% of Americans hold a passport. From Google:
US State Department estimates that 37 per cent of the population has a valid passport.
I would also refute that 87% of Americans have never left the state they were born in.

I am Very Sorry Glyn. I must take issue with your deriding all Americans that way. I have a passport And Have used it. This point , however has NIL to do with the topic at hand. I was only trying to clarify the wheel spinners on My Car, which I have admitted I know very little about, and was trying to help whomever may also wonder. Enough said.

Jerry ~ Bear in mind that I worked my entire career for a US based multinational. We spent a bucket of money on research by top companies. Argue with Kline. I was on the FTC "clean team" for the Chevron/Texaco/Caltex merger (as Caltex had grown larger than both of it's parents) & alarmed to find that of the US Team allocated to me only 1 had a passport which had to be rectified very quickly as we required to hit the road swiftly to execute our mandate. I did not make the 6% comment. I'm not deriding anybody, just reporting a finding from a research organisation. Anyway ~ peace please & apologies if anybody feels offended. It was not the intention. I will not apologise to Coventry Foundation for anything. They are a supercilious bunch at best with a long track record of being so.

The 87% that I commented on is your own American Company's research ~ Kline & Company.
