Unknown item.

Post by Albion »

Hi everyone,

Once again it is that time of the year when days start getting longer and we have more sunshine, so I can spare some time for my project.

I came across these pieces, which I can't place. Any information is appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

I can't place that piece and I have had everything off my car. Looks like it should be riveted to something else so I might not have removed it.

If I was to take a guess I would say it was part of the internals of the heater box. RHQ and LHQ could stand for Right and left hand Quadrant or Quarter but that is all I can offer.

My car was pulled down to it's last nut & bolt . Even replaced every harness.

I do not recognise them. Someone with a better memory might.

I believe these were taken off by the panel beaters who did my car. Infact I do not recall removing them myself. As for the marking, RHQ means right side front and LHQ means left side front. No doubt they do not belong to the heather box since the box itslef has not been dismantled yet. Hope some one crops up with an idea and thanks.

After giving this some more thought I think they pop rivet into the door carcass. I remember nearly forgetting to put them in. They improve access to the lock & winding mechanism.

Item 56 example.

Now you have said that Glyn I can confirm that you are right. Here is a photo of the inside of one of my doors showing the piece. I never removed these from my doors when I stripped it down. No need as they were rivetted on.

Took me some time to find a photo as it is not something you actually need to photograph.

Thanks for the confirmation Rob. It just struck me "aren't those the things we nearly left out?" And thanks for the pic. I might have one on film/print from stripping.

Hi, thanks for the information. As usual this forum turns out to be extremely helpful. I could not check whether these belong to the door I have on my car or not. I will be able to fo so tomorrow. What about the piece on top shown as item 14 on the exploded view supplied?

Mystery solved! Item 14 shown on picture supplied, is fitted underneath the quarter window above the winder mechanism to protect it from water.
