Another S Type on BaT

Post by John Quilter »

My XK120 owning cousin keeps sending me links to S Types on BaT. A white one with wires and automatic did not reach reserve a week or so ago and bid to $14,000 as I recall. Here's a black one also also with wires and upgraded to a GM T400 gearbox and a steering rack.

The black one is on the register and David will have more details of it but it does say "originally found abandoned in Mexico. Restored over 17 yrs in Cs. Now in Boston" Not sure how old this information is though.

I knew the guy who owned it in Boston when we were still living there. It was put on the Register in the Spring of 2006. The story is in Newsletter Vol. 4, No.11-12, but I don't know what happened after that.

Sold for $26,500. Looks like a very fine example.

The white one from a few weeks ago only bid to $14,000 and did not make reserve. It was a wire wheel car with factory automatic and, IIRC only 44,000 miles. No AC however. Quite a big difference in price for a similar car.
