Paint colour

Post by RollyTG »

Can anybody identify this paint colour for me, or point me to a reliable colour chart for 1965 Jaguars. It is most likely the original colours of my 65. It is actually a tiny bit more green than it appears here.

This website gives the colour names and codes and shows some examples but you have to check the dates that the colour was used between as not all of them were used between 1963 and 1968 when the Stype was manufactured.

Also the chart attached is for BMC paint colours from 1964 to 1967 and Jaguar were a part of BMC at this time. That is not to say all these colours were used on Jaguars but some would have been.

Here are the S Type colours over the different years of production.

If it's not metallic then it would seem to be Willow Green. Could also be Sherwood green which is darker.

Thanks folks - looks like it is Sherwood Green. Though it also looks a lot like the Porcelain Green from the BMC chart.

The BMC chart is possibly the same colours but just with different names. BMC owned Austin, Morris, Riely, MG, Wolsey and merged with Jaguar in September 1966 so after this date the colours were possibly all the same just different names.
