Please, God, no. I'm really glad you've ruled this out, Rob.

I would have gone for the stainless ones if I could have justified the price. I can't see why you wouldn't, if you have the £s.

Orlando. I agree that stainless would seem the obvious answer but in real life they develop a slightly dull yellow look about them. They simply don't have the "pop" of a chrome rim. It depends whether that bothers you.

The stainless spokes & nipples on MWS chrome wire wheels are electropolished & chromed.

I guess the best of both worlds would be electropolished, chromed stainless wheels. Price would probably be prohibitive. :)
