Proper door sealing & door card protection crucial. As Rob correctly observes ~ nevermind how you look at NDV rubber seal replacement it is a job that snowballs into other considerations. It is not a job that is done in isolation.

Trying to catch up on the various threads, I noticed the new plastic sheeting behind the door skin in the pictures, does anybody know where to buy this in the U.K.
I would think is comes on a roll but I have not seen it for sale, I will need it for the rebuild.
Many thanks.

you can use Clear Plastic (Vinyl) Drop Cloth used by painters, they are the right thickness more or less.

We used thin virgin polyurethane sheet that is quite firm & Mylar like for long life, durability & it being impervious to most things.

Do not use cheap vinyls/plastics & especially anything with recycled material in it. After a few years it will deteriorate into large flakes inside your door as the plasticisers leach out of it. It will hang around in the environment for a very long time but not protect your door cards.

Anything that is designed to use once & throw away/recycle will not do the job.

Why not use the correct stuff? This is what I use on doors, available from motor factors or body shop suppliers.

excellent Nigel.

a membrane is what it is called.

My car still has the original material, I suppose it is the same as you posted, industrial stuff.

At the moment I have a 9 month old Golden retriever puppy called Alice I am training (our forth) and yes this was her blanket I took the photos on. But this is changing the subject somewhat.lol.
is it true that one is not supposed to pet these dogs? I was once at a line in a supermarket and a seeing eye dog came to me very friendly and I petted him/her.

The woman in front of me saw me and she started complaining that "sir, you are not supposed to pet my dog".

This membrane is modern stuff that is self adhesive about 1/8 inch thick and is made of closed cell foam, also acts as a limited sound deadening barrier.
