great ebay Buy
I was browsing ebay today and was thinking o purchasing a pair of S/H front indicator units @£32 but I happened to see a left hand unit new old stock for £50 so it was a no brainer as they normally sell for about £136 plus all the normal VAT and delivery, what a great buy.
Happy new year John

there is (or was) a seller offering a pair of MK2 Fog Rangers (sealed type) for $240.00 plus shipping on ebay.
$100.00 was a great buy but that was 3 years ago. Do they measure 5 or 6 inches in diameter? the MK2 Fog Rangers are smaller, approximately 5" diameter.
I have a pair of S type Fog Rangers, (sealed type), for $245.00 delivered in the US. ($220.00 plus shipping to Europe or Australia which is very expensive).
Tested and working. The S type Fog Rangers are approximately 6" diameter.
Also have the 4-position headlamps switch with escutcheon.
These are very good condition original parts from a 1966 S type.

Re: great ebay Buy
Hi Jose ~ They measure exactly 5 3/4 inches from outer chrome rim to outer chrome rim. (I have a spare new chrome rim & sealed beam sitting in front of me ~ not for sale). The Mk2 takes Lucas Fograngers. The S Type takes FT6's. I know what you mean but there is no such thing as an S Type Fogranger just for clarity. The S Type fog lamp also sells in free (bumper) mounting form as a Lucas FT/LR 6/9. The FT6 rearmount was also used on the Rover P5B.
This is a Fogranger. I've never bothered to measure one because they don't apply to an S Type.

Re: great ebay Buy
everybody refers to these Lucas back-mounted fog lamps for the MK2 and S type as "Fog Rangers". If you want to get real "purist" about it and call them FT6 that's fine too.
I call them Fog Rangers because owners of these cars recognize the term and instantly form a picture in their mind of what they look like. Even sellers of these lamps call them Fog Rangers on ebay worldwide, regardless of MK2 or S type application.
The caveat emptor is their size. The MK2 lamps are too small for the S type and the S type lamps are too big for the MK2.
Note that I have seen MK2 with S type Fog Rangers, my friend Lynn in Tennessee was one of them because he preferred the larger lamp, though they look wrong in the MK2.
In my car, I have SPOT LAMPS, 100 watt motorcycle lamps made for me by Retro Air in Texas. I wanted PAR aircraft lights, but he told me he could do better and he did. Those things blind oncoming traffic including truckers with their new LED headlamps. You wanna blind me? I'll turn on my two hundred watts of quartz and burn your retinas!

Re: great ebay Buy
I dispute that everybody calls them Fograngers but we shall not argue. I watched eBay for years to find my new pair. The vast majority of people call them what Lucas & Jaguar call them. They are generically Fog lights/lamps or Spot lights/lamps depending on which sealed beam/lense is fitted. Nobody in a Jag club that I've been involved with around the world would call an S Type fog lamp a Fogranger. They would call a Fogranger a Fogranger for differentiation. You are the first person that I've found that calls FT6's Fograngers.
Call them the wrong thing & someone without knowledge will buy the wrong thing or try & fit the wrong thing.

Re: great ebay Buy
Out of interest nice new FT6 sealed beams that I bought new when they were still available mounted in their chrome frames with screws to replace them from the front without dismounting the whole assembly from the car. This was one way you could order them at the time. They are my spares.
My car won't be driven much at night but I have fitted a set of Lucas H4's as the main 7" headlamps with xenon bulbs. I have kept a new pair of Lucas round centre spot sealed beams in case anybody gets silly at concours. I have left the fog lights as fog lights because they are correct & in fog you don't want very bright lights or you will see nothing.
