Just on the subject of the automatic transmission, your 1965 car will likely have it's original Borg Warner DG250. All DG250s leak, unless they have been sealed by a specialist. Yes, mine (pic in Glyn's post above) came from Claytons and has the upgraded fan and radiator. I had to send them my existing box and they upgraded it. It does work better than the original. Then again, I almost only drive it in the summer.

Oil consumption is around one pint per 400 miles, if that's the unit of measurement. Or one litre per 800 miles. I'll keep you a...

Following the recommendations in this thread - and the fact that the oil specifications in the user manual/chassis plate don't specify anything higher than a 40 ...
