Re: Front air Vent Knobs
you welcome. I don't think it just fell of, someone might have tried to pull it, force-turned it until it broke. I used two of the S type knobs in my XJ-6, pulling the cable from the knob's shaft was not easy. I had them rechromed and adapted them to the cig lighter and dimmer. Jaguar reissued very ...

Re: Front air Vent Knobs
here's a complete S type Vent controls assembly I have from a 1966. To remove the cable and knob, you need a very thin spanner that fits between the back of the knob and the chromed plate over the wood, the cable and knob comes out through the front. I don't know who invented this, but my my, what a...

Re: Front air Vent Knobs
those circled? they are Vent Controls, they open and close the air vents under each side of the dash. The Heater is controlled by the HEAT button in the vacuum switcher below the radio, and the temperature (cold-hot) slider above the radio. also you cannot really replace the chromed knob, it is fact...

Re: New S Type Model
I have all the Jaguar 1:24 models from Franklin and Danbury Mints, they are incredibly detailed. But they never produced a MK-2 or S type in 1:24 either.

Re: Oil exiting the crankcase breather
I have always used 87 octane Regular Unleaded, in both cars, no pinging.
gas is $2.29 - $2.49 over here..More expensive in California and other Western states.

Re: Oil exiting the crankcase breather
if it ain't broke, don't fix it! most XJ-6 owners remove the GM Delco air pump and all related hardware to get more "efficiency" and then they complain about the engine not running as it used to. My XJ-6 engine is intact. Bought in 1989 from a doctor who had it sitting outside under a tree...

Re: Oil exiting the crankcase breather
Glyn,
my XJ-6 starts and runs as smooth as a new car, doesn't smoke, I am the only smoker around it.

Re: Oil exiting the crankcase breather
my XJ-6, (my first Jaguar), a 1984 4.2 liter fuel injected 6 cylinder, has an identical engine breather-to-air cleaner routing as the 1965 S type. This system was used until the last Series 3 XJ, 6 cylinder in 1987. this tells me the factory system has been proven to work. My 1997 Ford 4.0 liter fue...
