Re: Throttle return springs

Just make sure your 3rd spring is an ultra light spring or you will accelerate wear on the butterfly shafts. Far better to check for alignment & lubricate every part of the accelerator linkage. People usually put a 3rd spring on to get the car to settle to the correct idle speed. More spring pow...

Because they are idiots. The car's styling has stood the test of time.

Re: Water leak - maybe the water pump seal?

Buy the new & improved water pump. It's likely the shaft seal. The impeller design has been improved to move more coolant. Don't exceed a 9lb radiator cap. I've settled on 7lb. The 4lb cap is a joke & seldom seals at all. Obviously check all hoses.

Re: Throttle return springs

You should have 2 throttle return springs. Long one to oil filter housing bracket. Short one to bracket attached to carbs.

Re: Does anyone know where these wires go?

The rear door felt patch that pads the bottom of the window channel from the skin is very common. Soak with Tectyl.

Re: Does anyone know where these wires go?

Not original as Cass says. Might have run to an idle speed booster when the HVAC compressor clutched in??? You will have to trace.

Wise buy!! I keep a spare at the tip of Africa. It's like my overblown collection of fog light sealed beams. Not for sale. Many new.

Barratts inform me that the latest version is considerably better & more reliable. We shall see.

Re: S Type at Mathewson auction

Looks a very good buy for the price. That firewall padding comes from an old Barratts Underbonnet Mk2 kit. Lots of new parts fitted. Attempts at some restoration are wrong. Things like radiator & tailpipes are new. Both rear arches have seen work. Probably slight tin rot. Generally I would say a...
