Re: scuttle vent

If you think you have a vacuum leak there are a couple of places it could leak from. Check all the hoses from the dash switch to the various vacuum switches. I had a leak right on the end of one of my rubber hoses where it joined the vacuum switch on the bulkhead. Next check the vacuum tank under th...

Re: My new project - an unrestored 1965 3.8S automatic

Welcome to the forum and a nice looking project. The expensive bit is always rectifying rusty body parts and panels so if this is as rust free as you say then you could have a good one. If you come across a problem there are many on here who will try and help with advice and if you add you location ...

Re: Marles varamatic steering box

I think I am right in saying that the packing rings in the spring turrets were put on the drivers side so when the drivers weight was sat in the car the small packing ring evened out the suspension height. Mine had packing rings when I dismantled the car but I failed to note which ones went where so...

Nice one Andrew. 3D printing is the way to go with some of the obsolete parts on our old cars. Where abouts are you based as you do not have a location in your personal details.

Re: Tow truck options

As John states the rear bumper is a pain to get off as the nuts are well hidden under the bumper and it is a case of a quarter turn of a spanner each time as access is limited. Add to that how long the bumper has been on the car and any corrosion you might have in the bolts. The bolts go into a meta...

Re: Tow truck options

If it is a tow truck ie a flat bed truck then nose to the rear is not a problem. The tow cable could be run via a soft material loop through the rear IRS cage but it depends on how steep the ramp up onto the tow truck is as the IRS cage is a fair light gage metal. You could run the cable right under...

Re: PAS reservoir o-rings

Likewise Jerry, What O ring? The underside of my reservoir has two push fit hoses which are not under pressure as one feeds the pump and the other is the return from the steering box. Both are as stated push fit with Jubilee clips (Number 12 ) to hold them in place as in the diagrahm below. Or are y...

Re: Overdrive electric circuits

John I have an Auto box so can't help with specifics but from my knowledge of working with my own wiring loom apart from the radio I cannot recall any inline fuses. All my fuses were/are situated behind the dash panel and all the wiring is centred around these eight fuses. Having said that looking a...

Re: David Reilly's Passing

Although I am an avid lover and protector of the S Type marque I just don't have the time to take on something like this. I run my own wedding car business as well as training guide dog (seeing eye dog) puppies three days a week and I try and play golf twice a week so just no time to commit to takin...
