Re: S-type/420 seats
Hi Sam. There are lots of things that interchange between the S Type and 420 and I believe the seats are one of them. It does not, as far as I am aware, matter if the car is a manual or Auto as the tunnel end prior to the front of the seats. The tunnel on the Auto is bigger to accommodate the bigger...

Re: Interior light door switch
Harold The switch is located inside the A pillar behind the lower hinge. It is the back of the hinge which depresses the switch when closed. I had the same problem that you are having and found in the end that I had a bad earth on one of the lights. As the earth is inside the B pillar I just ran a n...

Re: Steel (hub-cap) wheels
No problem send me a PM with your email address and I will send you photos of them, I have more than five I think most in good or reasonable condition. I sold my steel wheels 5 or 6 years ago but no one wanted the embellishers so they are just hung up in the garage.

Re: Engine out - part 2
When I had my engine rebuilt 10 years ago. (Time flies) my engine shop cleaned my oil pump and checked all the tolerances on it and decided there were smaller tolerances in the old pump than the new one which appeared to have been manufactured in China. We cleaned the old one and left it in place. N...

Re: 3D printing velocity stacks ..
It is good you are adding the extra screen but I also think you will need to clean it weekly to stop it clogging up. A clogged up single screened air filter is going to ruin your air flow diagram. I don't think Jaguar had an option as to where they put the air filter on the S type as free space unde...

Re: 3D printing velocity stacks ..
And as for the heat, in the original air filter system there is a hose that runs from the air filter intake to the front by the side of the radiator that draws in cooler air. Early S Types had this system but it was deleted for later models. It can be retro fitted which is what I have done on my 196...

Re: 3D printing velocity stacks ..
It is interesting with the dimples but on the photo you have shown with the E Type engine there are no bends and I don't see the point of a bend in the set up of the S type unless you don't think there is enough room between the mouth of the carb and the inner wing. What air filter are you thinking ...

Re: Steel (hub-cap) wheels
Can't help with the wheels but I do have a set of embellisher rings hanging in my garage which came off my car when I converted to wires. I sold the wheels and the hubcaps but for some reason still have about 6 or 7 embellisher rings left.

Re: Broke dip stick.
First I've heard about this potential problem :o So what can be done to the dipstick to prevent this from occurring later? Not sure why mine snapped. It was a bit tight in the dip stick tube but one day I just pulled the dip stick out and the top came away from the bottom. I suppose checking the di...
