I got fed up with unreliable sender units that I have replaced a few times over the many years i have owned the car so i added a Smiths mechanical guage plumbed into the main oil gallery.

I think they are the same but I don't have a Mk2 parts book to check the numbers, perhaps some one on here can verify .

Thanks for the info Rob, the tank is identical to yours put painted so I'll get a strap for it, I know the MGOC shop well with the amount of stuff I've had to buy for the Frankinstine Midget/Frog I have.

I'm using the same tank as John (fitted in the same location as Rob's) on my car and have experimented with using both types of systems by swapping types of caps between rad and tank e.g. pressurising the overflow tank or using a plain cap and the same with the rad if you see what I mean. You might need a high temperature contact adhesive such as trim adhesive due to the heat through the screen, this will do till the next time you have cause to remove the rail for other work when the screws can be put in.

From what I remember the two holes are for screws used to secure the plates to the dash rail ends. Looking at the photo there is some glue remaining on the plate so probably no screws were used, I can only suggest they are glued back unless you want to remove the rail and do it properly. I managed to get under my car this morning to check the bushes and they are as good as new when I fitted them in 2015.
