Re: Marles varamatic steering box
Polybush and Powerflex are the brand names and these companies are trusted in the UK by most car enthusiasts be classic, modern race and rally. If you buy from them you can expect to get a quality product, if they fail then go back and complain, from personal experience using their products on vario...

Re: Marles varamatic steering box
I can recommend fitting polyurethane bushes in the wishbones etc. The rubbish rubber ones just don't last, I fitted them on my some years ago when I rebuilt the front end, they are silent with no squeaks, well on my car anyway. Have a look at the different types of bushes available as there are seve...

Re: Tow bar
Yes a lot of changes, the original springs were badly sagging and I replaced them with a set that were too high but that was all that was available back then. Getting parts for Mk2's and S Types was not the easiest thing, the Jaguar main dealers had nothing for them so the only outlets beside breake...

Re: Tow bar
I wish I had one of those "A" frames when I towed the S Type home from my friends workshop in Shoreditch central London back in 1986 a distance of thirty miles. Had to use a tie-down strap that I used for that I used for strapping down loads on the HGV I drove. The worst towing of the S Ty...

Re: Tow bar
It would be better to secure to the chassis rails but this was all you could get back in the seventies when I fitted it. I had to make a new rear valance the cross bar is fitted to as the panel was unobtainable so took the opportunity to reinforce the whole of the rear of the boot area with 3/8"...

Re: Tow bar
I have a tow bar I fitted to my car many years ago to pull a small caravan. Not sure what make it is as I found it at spares day for a tenner, I think it's part XJ6 and part S Type, I had the fittings that go through the bumper but didn't fancy drilling holes in it so it has an angled cross bar bolt...

Jaguar XJ6 & MG Frog Midget
Finally called time on my XJ6, it has driven me to distraction! Every time I've gone to use it something goes wrong (usually expensively) so enough is enough and time to move it on. Having had my fill of tyre kickers and time wasters trying to sell it I decided to put it through the auctions, I deci...

Re: Head to Head (Cylinder)
That valve guide looks familiar, the same thing happened to my engine. I can't remember now but I think I had the machine shop fit over size (outside diameter) guides, this was back in 1980. When I did the latest rebuild in 1998 I had new guides machined from solid bilit to get a good fit.

Re: Newby here with some questions please !
My 3.8 engine block with the 3.8 cast into the block. The difference between the 3.4 and 3.8 are noticeable, I have a spare 3.4 engine that I've fitted a few times and used it to drive coast to cost across the USA and was glad to put the 3.8 back (after a rebuild) when I got it back to the UK as it ...
