Re: Luggage compartment light 1965 3.8s

There is no boot light switch. A mercury switch operates it. When the lid is closed contact is broken. When it is open mercury makes the contact. Simple. You should just have replaced the Mercury.

Re: Interior light door switch

I replaced every harness in my restoration plus all 4 door switches so I knew where to look. Stick strictly to the wiring diagram. I had mine blown up & laminated & stuck it on my garage wall. This image is good high resolution. http://www.jagstyperegister.com/images/maintdocs/S-type-wiring-...

Yes. The harness to the switch is behind the kick panel.

Re: Locked brakes

Alan. I would go for the Lockheed unit LR18230 from Barratts. Requires minor pipework rejigging with existing pipes but saves a fortune. Your car has the smaller booster while mine has the 8" unit. I had mine rebuilt by Barratts because I was going for concours. They do a beautiful job but it i...

Re: Engine out - part 2

Wise decision. Crud builds up in those crank plug holes badly over time.

Re: 3D printing velocity stacks ..

This movie by Cummins Diesel from the '50s ~ "Operation Hourglass" is as valid today as it was then only more so with modern tolerances in engines. That includes your rebuilt XK engine to modern standards with modern components. Skip ads and LISTEN! ~ BTW I'm a Tribologist! https://www.you...

Re: 3D printing velocity stacks ..

The filter is made up of 3 metal meshes. The inner mesh is stainless steel 70/80 mesh. More than adaquate. As I said. Absolute rubbish ~ Nothing but a stone catcher. Most certainly not adequate unless one intends rebuilding an engine after every race. Filter should be approx 1 micron nominal, 3 mic...
