Re: One-family-owned from new 3.8S

Greetings, everyone. Sorry for the lack of posts lately. Life is complicated. Still, I did get to use my S-type for my friends' wedding in Oakham a few weeks back. It seemed to go down well and it behaved faultlessly, which is more than can be said for the weather, which kept us guessing right up to...

Re: Oil Pressure sender.

They are ludicrously unreliable. I must be on about my fourth in 10 years. One I fitted didn't even work properly from the outset. Another one leaked. And, like you say, Rob, this is not a cheap part to buy.

Re: Marles varamatic steering box

Yes, my own front spring journey has been a bit of a nightmare, which started when I assumed the original springs would need replacing after 50 years. Not so! But I only discovered that after fitting new replacements which gave a ride height that was too low. Anyway, long story short, I too ended up...

Re: PAS reservoir o-rings

Incidentally, just in case someone stumbles across this thread looking for items 3 and 4 on the Plate 69 PAS Reservoir Diagram from the Parts Manual, which are shown in the parts manual as: 7753 Gasket, on Cover Bolt (HE.1324) 7751 Gasket, under Cover (HE.1306) Whilst they are not available from Jag...

Re: Tow truck options

Just one point about putting S-types on tow trucks...the rear wheels are well inset and so you need to make sure the web straps used to hold the car down are not rubbing on the bodywork fore and aft of the rear wheels. See on John's pic how the straps at the rear overlap the bodywork. Hopefully they...

Thanks for that very useful information, Jerry, and well done on your achievement. Like you, I try to stay as far away from transmissions as I can, esp the DG250!

Re: The passing of Dave Reilly.

Well, I realise my words will be a little late and I apologise for not visiting sooner to learn this sad news. Yes, like many members of the forum and the S-type Register, I've had many discussions with David in recent years, particularly in my quest to make my S-type as accurate as I can reasonably...

That's nice, Rob. I think I saw the same photo on Facebook.

It turns out the church was demolished in August of that same year.

Re: 1965 Jaguar 3.8 S Type, Sync4, OD, PAS, BRG/Biscuit on chrome wires back on the road after 30 years.

The Chief Concours Judge of South Africa has just valued my car for insurance. He rates it as the best S Type in the country. He rated the car at 100 points Plus. I'm smiling from ear to ear & delighted. Now I will have it in writing to frame that I got there. This is no trailer queen & I c...
