I went for that too — and it's very good indeed.

Thanks for all the advice.

The air chamber and Carcoon are too pricy for me at the moment but out of the 2 I thought that the air chamber is the better as it has a frame so it will not collapse when the door is opened , but yes I know of the Carcoon and the idea off both is great. I Bought 3 indoor /outdoor covers from a company called Hamiltons ( http://www.hamiltonclassic.co.uk/ )they were quite expensive at about £200 each but the only issue with these is the debris they pick up when being pulled off.

John if your interested in this type of cover the have a look at this website, UK as opposed to a US firm that will cost you a lot on shipping. A chap not far from me keeps his Jenson Interceptor in one outside all year round.

I bought a Cosmos indoor car cover in BRG on the strength of this report. I'm happy. No good for outdoor though.

When P1B79909DN first arrived it the USA, we bought a car cover from MG Mitten. Their covers were made specifically for each model and their ‘S’-type cover was high quality and fitted perfectly. We bought the “Golden Mink”, which was lined with a soft material, even though it cost $10.00 more!
The cover was used any time the car was in the garage and rarely outdoors and then only if we were away over night on a tour or at a car show.

Eventually though it gradually aged, became quite faded and acquired a rip or two that had to be stitched. I know there is a photo of P1B79909DN with the cover on, but I cannot find it so include a photo of the cover folded on the workbench.

For P1B79909DN’s 50th birthday, Patricia surprised our ‘S’-type (and me!) by presenting us with a new car cover. It is the Jaguar Union Jack Indoor Car Cover from Welsh Enterprises (see Newsletter Vol. 9, No. 4. While not tailored to the ‘S’-type, you can see in the photos that it fits very nicely. It is medium weight soft, non-abrasive cotton material, fine for indoor coverage, but not suitable for any weather.
Cheers,
David

I'm using covers from this company https://www.concoursautoproducts.co.uk on my XJ and Frogeye that live outside all year and found them the best of the ones I've tried and unfortunately the most expensive. Not sure of the tailored fit regarding the mirrors, you will have to talk to them about that. When I bought them I visited the factory and saw them being made so they should be able to custom make one to your requirements.

Be aware that if you use them in a dusty garage then move it outside and it rains some of the dust will go through the cover on to the car as all these types of covers are breathable.

Car cover (custom fit)

I’d like to order an S type cover in the UK, largely for use in my [very dusty] garage but preferably also with water-proof qualities so that the cover can be used outside when occasionally necessary.

Does anyone have any recommendations? My car has the period wing-mirrors which do rather stick out when it comes to covering it! I have found a couple of websites but anyone who has actual experience using a good make would presumably be able to give useful advice to me.

Thank you.
