Here is mine in position in the boot of the car. I have the handle sticking out to the side where the handle of my Thor hammer is.
If I was really anal I should take this out and give it a good clean or possibly a repaint.lol.

The domed cover is tack welded in place on mine.

Pics from my archive. Not my car.

Ok I thought I had bought an S type Car jack (as advertised plus420 & 420G) but I cant get it to fit the space, the floor cover fowls the top of the jack it looks identical to the jack that was serviced by Jose the only difference being the top domed cover does not have any screws to remove the cover.
If the jack is facing with the jacking arm up it hits the handle in the middle of the floor closure cover, if it is turned with the jack arm down the crank handle hits the cover. It is identical to the unit being shown on this web site on page 4

http://www.classic-british-car-jacks.uk ... _jacks.htm

Dimensions are the same as on the web page.

post a picture of that jack outside of the car, I have never seen one before.
As I built my car to UK spec I fitted a Shelley jack. My old jack is somewhere at my restorer's in Johannesburg. I will try & photograph the next time I'm up there. I remember reading in the automotive press all those years back that the management of Jaguar Cars SA considered the Shelley Jack "to be wholly inadequate to lift a heavy car in SA conditions." LOL.

Rob,
Barratts was able to supply me with those Jack buffers (blind grommets). I found a local substitute for the big round bung stopper it rests on & cut the rounded top shroud from rubber sheet.

If you have a couple spare Jose, you have my address?

Cass,
if you can't find them, let me know.

those bumpers / buffers prevent the jack from rattling in its bracket mount even if tightened by the strap.
