Great thanks!

They are intended to keep grease inside the bushes & tube so that it does not spread to the carpets. Don't oil them.

What about the two felt washers at the bottom sides of the pedal? Are they intended to be oiled?

Yes ~ while I don't have an Auto to check I would believe they should be affixed from the engine compartment. (thanks Rob & Orlando for pics)

The linkages were originally silver cadmium plated. Your best option today is to silver zinc plate them. (as opposed to yellow zinc passivate)

Actually everything is exactly as in figure 5. Way back when I dismantled I took pictures which I still have to find where I saved them! Still, from pictures supplied here it seems that bushes should be fixed from engine compartment.

Now, I am not sure if they are bare metal or if they were galvanised or treated in any way. Recommendations?

That's fine. :)

Your car might have the modified pedal like this. Drivers complained about the throttle action so Jaguar modified it away from the roller.

Being new to such forums I an not sure of having figured out where to fill my car's detailed in my Profile. I have done it as a signature. Will amend as need be.

Also remember that over the years your car may have been modified away from standard as shown in the manual. Don't consider your car right & the manuals wrong. The reverse will likely apply.

The information we provide on forums is for everybody's benefit ~ not only yours. So we provide more information than asked for in some of our answers.
Hi, you're right, it is a RHD Automatic with BW transmission. My setup is the one in figure 5. As far as I am aware of all numbers match, so I think it unlikely that it has been modified. Besides, I did not notice any obvious alterations upon dismantling. The car did need a lot of metal work, but otherwise it was pretty complete.

This might help as it is a top and side on view from my 3.4 BW35 Auto linkage when I was stripping it down.
