I had a spare from my parts car, but I gave it to David a few years ago. He modified it, turning it into a cup holder (putting his nice original safely away). It turned out great.

yes the pull in my car is curled too, the sleeve makes it look straight in the picture but it also curls.

I'm in contact with Saul frequently. He lovea electric guitars too.

Been to his shop and he actually uses a furnace to cure the finishes, they come out like glass. Amazing old world craftsmanship which he learned from his father. I love the smell of wood and poly finish. He partially refinished a Momo wood steering wheel for my XJ-6.

I posted a picture of his 420 with a center mounted stop lamp that I got for him. He liked the one in my S type so he wanted one too!

The early '64's I've seen curled over your forefinger allowing you to push with your thumb. They could have been SS but did not have sharp edges.

the sleeve fits tighly but is removable, however if I remove it, the edges of the metal pull are way too sharp and can cut the skin. I think it is polished stainless not chromed.
the sleeve gives more leverage to the index finger while the thumb presses the lock.

I think the finger pull is a good idea. I think the handle was just done to standardise across the range including E Type. I've never seen a finger pull with the rubber sleeve (other than yours) ~ just chrome. I shall keep my eyes open.

I find the pull a lot more comfortable than the boat bow cleat handle pull.

did you research the black rubber sleeve on the pull?

I can vouch for Saul's work. It is superb. A true artist!

Indeed. A very few early 1964 cars had a finger pull on the glovebox lid as shown in the brochure. We have covered elsewhere here.

unless you have the finger pull like my car has.

If you have no luck doing a pro lamination, send it to Saul at British Autowoid and he will do it for you. Saul is from Wales but lives in Orlando Florida.

He has a 420 and a 340 in mint condition that he brought from UK. He also had a S type.
